I’m currently working on a documentary about US citizens living in Canada.

Canada is home to the 2^nd largest US expat community and given our geographic, cultural and historical similarities, US Americans have the ability to fade into the Canadian woodwork and remain fairly unnoticed or remarked upon. We do not have a presence similar to other immigrant groups who have made Canada home but cultural differences do exist and the relationship between Canada and the US is much more nuanced than would appear at first glance.

The history of US immigrants coming up from down south extends as far back as the revolutionary war and continued in waves for the next 250 years. We now find ourselves at a unique juncture in the relationship between our two countries and there is a story somewhere in here about the experiences of US Americans living in Canada in this moment.
